Leading on the sub-Saharan Africa region, Bulama is also a lecturer with the Department of International Law & Jurisprudence, Bayero University, Kano, where he teaches Islamic Law of Crimes and Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. He is a peace advocate who has been active in resolving misunderstandings among Muslims, Christians, and other religious groups in northern Nigeria. His research interests include Islamic law of crime, Islamic law of war and peace, Islamic international law, and religion & coexistence in Africa. Before joining CRG, he led research on "The Discourses and Constituencies of Boko Haram" for the Cordoba Foundation of Geneva.
